Breast cancer can be a devastating diagnosis and it’s important that patients know immediately that breast reconstruction can be an important part of their overall plan for dealing with the breast cancer. Empowering women with information, the ability to make their own choices, and be in control of their journey to wellness can help reassure her that her life can return to normal. Discussing options for reconstruction at the time of diagnosis can actually help women to feel more in control and comfortable with what is happening around them. It helps them see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. She may decide it's not for her in the end, but the important part is that she knows the breast reconstruction options available to her and with this information is able to make her own empowered and educated decisions.
